    Hi All

Right, some good points made so far fellow fishers.

This thread was kinda bought about by a couple of your young apprentices Chad. And what they said. Basically until they hooked up with you, their fish catch rate was pretty low. So they learnt. And you kept them up all night. And put them through hell well fishing hell. But they got the results.

And as I believe, positivity, dedication, and motivation is what allows people to catch fish.

    When others aren't.

James calls it the " Hard Yards ".

And that in my mind is what counts.

Some guys go to the same beach every day, fish in the beautiful weather, soaking up the sun. Same bait. And once in a blue moon, they catch a fish.
To some just being out there doing it, is enough.
    And that is fair enough.

But to others. the challenge is to catch fish. Not so much big fish, but fish on a regular basis.
Mind you it is nice to catch the odd monster. Thats a bonus.

To me fishing is anticipation of allowing your knowledge, your gear, and your mind set, To chuck two baited rods out into a hell of a lot of Ocean, and test the fish.

It comes down to man v fish. And that has been going on for eons.

Good gear won't let you down, and will stick with you. Knowledge is learnt with each successful outing. Positivity comes with each outing. Motivation is mind over matter. Sometimes the Hard Yards, just seem a little hard.

Chad you hit the nail on the head, a motivated fisherman, keeps fresh bait out. More smell, more of a morsel. Lazy buggars like me, have been known to reel in. Okay baits still there, and recast, without changing.

Other times I have gone to the beach, found a likely possie, then sat there and watched it.
And found a hundred reasons not to fish it. Its gunna rain, the sea looks a little rough, I'm not in the mood etc. That is my occassional negativity. No rods out just go home. Mind you thats only five minutes from home. Had I travelled 30k. Damm right the rods would be out. And probably catch fish.

Oh well just some thoughts from me.

    Cheers Trev aka Hardy
