Yeah, I hear that.

This is my last day in this flat. Well, I'm moving tomorrow morning, assuming this moving guy turns up. I didn't realise that it was St Patrick's Day. Hopefully, there's no sectarian thievery.

Anyway, I was evicted from this place because the landlord wants to do some major repair. I didn't raise a fuss because I wanted to move anyway and there's nothing that I can do even if I didn't want to move.

But it's all very suspicious. The landlord said he'd talk to me about what to do about this major repair but he didn't. He just sent a notice to vacate.

So I didn't pay the complete last two months of rent. The amount outstanding is the same as the amount of the deposit.

They did not like that. Three days after the rent was due, they were sending me nasty emails. Then this scumbag agent started calling me. I just told them that they'll get the rent. It's true. They will get the rent. They got it. The deposit covers all rent due.

Then they sent me a letter threatening to sue. I just had a good laugh and repeated that they'll get all of the money but if they want to sue, that's a matter for them. They didn't do shit.

Did I mention that my previous scumbag letting agency sued me? Yeah, that didn't go well for them. He was effectively suing for £90. He got £0. So he paid court costs, paid for his solicitor, had to take the day off of work, et cetera. He got nothing.

Back to the current situation. In this threatening letter, they mentioned that I'd be responsible for their legal fees. I corrected them stating that for simple procedures (previously called "small claims") in Scotland (and in the UK generally, as far as I'm aware) there are no awards for legal fees. All you can get is the court filing fee. Don't spend that hundred pounds all in one place.

Total scumbags. Somebody who doesn't work in the courts wouldn't know this stuff. And most tenants are students, people who aren't particularly well educated, and/or the poor. So they'd easily be intimidated by this stuff. "LEGAL FEES?!?!?! I better pay up then!"

Fuck you. You want to file a frivilous lawsuit, that's your business and you're paying for it.

Where was I going with this? Well, anyway, I'm moving tomorrow. They called today asking what my plans are for paying the outstanding rent and I told them in no uncertain terms not to call me again. They'll get the money from the deposit protection scheme. They know this.

The reason they want me to pay is because they planned on taking money out of the deposit for bullshit reasons. They sent me the most ridiculous list of how the property should be cleaned that I've ever seen. I can't even imagine a more ridiculous list. They want the freezer defrosted, for example. And the chimney swept. There is no chimney but how about you suck my penis instead?

With the new tenancy laws in Scotland, they wouldn't have been able to kick me out. They got rid of no fault evictions. Now there has to be a reason. There's a short list of valid reasons.

Anyway, fuck them. I'm sure this Jewish landlord will be great. The Chosen People do have a reputation for being excellent landlords.
