I suppose that I'm saving money on travel. My travel is all reimbursed here. Plus, it's just cheaper anyway. I was paying about £50/week for weekly rail tickets in London. That's just for travel within London. So that's £200/month, £2400/year. Still...I was making at least £10,000 more there. Maybe I could have afforded a nicer place. I don't know. Anyway, I seem to be getting plenty of work this year. I didn't charge one firm for a job that I did because their job couldn't go ahead but I ended up getting other work that day from a different firm. So I told them that I wouldn't charge but keep me in mind for future work. And they did. I got quite a few jobs from them after that. Also, I'm getting a fair amount of work from what may be the biggest firm in the country. I was talking to a young guy there and we got on as well as a guy like me can get on with anyone, so I think he put the word out. And a similar situation is coming up where they booked me for a job, the job cancelled, but I've managed to get other work for that day. So again, I won't charge them for that day that they cancelled and maybe I'll get some brownie points that way. And there's another firm who booked me for a couple of jobs recently and they've asked if I'm available for a three week job. That would be sweet. Three solid weeks. It might part of the job that they booked me for previously, which has some sort of minor news interest. A three week case is pretty big. Usually, they're one or two days. Must be some corporate shit. And if that gets ordered...I'll fucking retire. It would be like £15,000 minimum. So good for me. |
