I revisited this vehicle just before Xmas and set about it with my amps clamp. Checked what I could including the primary ignition and all traces checked out iaw Pico waveforms library. The garage fitted Kia coils and leads (albeit 2nd hand) and I awaited the outcome with bated breath. Visited the garage today on another mission whereupon I was informed that the vehicle has been sold and the local owner has not incurred any problems.
So, it looks like the fault lie in either faulty plugs, leads or coils. Or a combination of all three.
This was a learning process for me and I now know how to use the Amps clamp!
