Yes sorry mate i was thinking the 16valve engine as this does have a dowell pin but yours is an 8 valve which is a completely different setup but the bottom crank pulley still applies.

I did one notice the fault without actually disturbing to much by using a timing light, you can see the timing advancing/retarding if the outer crank pulley key way is damaged but this is only for the earlier versions where the ckp sensor runs again the pulley and not from the reluctor wheel inside the sump
