Hi guys.
New cam belt, tensioner & water pump fitted. No wear on crank sprocket key or key way on crank, with cam sprocket peg and locator hole both in very good condition, no movement in the peg and locator hole with no wear.
No undue movement in water pump, although at times the pump felt a bit 'rough' whilst rotating it, belt tensioner also in very acceptable condition.
Scoped signals and the sync is now back to the original capture of being on the 6th tooth.
I experimented a little with belt tension & discovered if the belt was on the tight side of correct, I could get the sync back to 4-5 tooth sync & if loose, the sync would move to between 7th & 8th tooth.
Of course, none of this explains how / why the sync should have moved simply by replacing the sensor
Anyhow, all is good and a short drive left me with the impression the car felt slightly 'sharper' than before.
