    Hi Gunner,

We had three like this in three weeks. The only fix was to change the turbo!!!! The symptons we experienced were:

    1. From cold the car pulls ok.
    2. As it reached normal operating temp, it would loose all boost pressure.
    3. Turn ignition off, the car would run again ok for 1/4 mile and do the same again.

When the fault occurs, you can put your foot to the floor and the car accelerates slowly, like it has a blocked exhaust. Will looking at like data during a road test, the charge pressure will drop to normal atmospheric pressure and stay like this until the ignition was switched off and on. The system would reset even if you flicked the ignition off for a split second, but then would loose power again.

As you say, test the car in the workshop and all seems ok. Does the ECU keep coming up with a 'boost pressure control'??? The vehicles that we saw were non-PD engines.

The turbo is kept in stock by our local VW dealer which says something.

VW told me it was the turbo on the first car we saw. After reluctantly changing the turbo on the first vehicle, we thought nothing of changing the next 2.

It was suggested that we played with the waste-gate actuator arm length but would rather leave this to the reconditioners.

I don't know if the info helps you, just letting you know what we have recently come across.

    Regards,
    Andy
