But one can also argue, I think, that the 'majority of voters' have changed their minds, as the real consequences of Brexit have been revealed, therefore, surely it's right, proper and democratic that the present majority for remain isn't dragged into Brexit against their will by a minority. If the people still want to vote for Brexit what's stopping them doing so in a second referendum? Then, if this happened, it's hard to see how parliament would ignore the result as Brexit would have been confirmed, twice in a row. One of the problems with the referendum was that the debate allowed charlatans and demagogues like Boris Johnson and Nigel Farrage way too much space to lead ordinary people up the garden path. The two of them are Tories, aren't they, so why on earth would people on the left support a result largely built on their bullshit? I seem to remember that Ireland, Holland and Denmark had two referendums and the second one reversed the previous vote. Nothing terrible happend in these countries, the result didn't lead to a catastrophe, and politics are 'back to normal', so, this shows it can be done, holding two referendums about the same thing, only this time, arguably the debate would be grounded in realism and a sober examintation of the consequences of leaving the EU.
