I've read George Galloway's article, I know you think GG makes some reasonable points, but for the most part I think it's a truck load of pernicious nonsense. George Galloway is as extreme a Brexiter as Farage, even though they belong to opposite ends of the political spectrum. He's allowing his own deep seated prejudice in this matter to totally distort his political outlook. Corbyn seems to be about the only sane politician and person in the UK, a country now ruled by hysterical irrationality, as exemplified by GG's diatribe. Ultimately the UK leaving or staying in the EU is irrelevant, the UK is going down the gurgler by its own internal contradictions and social stresses, its failing political institutions, allied to the blind hubris of the nationalistic nostalgia of country that once ruled the world and won the Second World War. Anyone latching onto Brexit as any sort of solution to the UK's problems is an idiot. Anyone unable to see that staying in the EU is, on its own, going to help either is also an idiot. Jeremy Corbyn seems to be one of the few people who are refusing to "take sides", he's done well so far, but of course his Labour party is as dysfunctional as the rest of the country. The media have played their toxic part in this division by forcing this simplistic binary ideology down the throats of the populace. The BBC demands of Corbyn repeatedly "are you for a referendum or not?", even as he patiently explains his more nuanced and reasoned position; to have such now is a major political failure. Your political and social identity can now apparently only be defined by Brexit or Remain, to such extremes as one can now publicly threaten Corbyn with a lynching. Yet all the time poverty insinuates its poisonous tentacles into communities around the country, Julian Assange languishes in prison, the planet continues to heat, the US seems to be preparing for war in Iran, is trying to kill poor people in Venezuela and thousands of refugees continue to drown in the Mediterranean. Powerful players in this and other countries would love to see increasing havoc in the UK, and they are stirring the pot as hard as they can. This includes Rupert Murdoch and right wing activists funded by secretive money from the US. This probably includes Nigel Farage. Because out of such turmoil and deepening social division comes opportunity - read Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine for further information. I read some of the comments here about Brexit, and I despair - so many have bought into this destructive and thoughtless zealotry - to quote GG's article - "the road ahead, still difficult, leads only one way". Indeed it does, it's called chaos. Tragedy almost invariably starts as farce, and the UK's farce is becoming ever more tragic by the day. It won't stop until good, sane, thoughtful and concerned people in authority can gain some collective traction, and that includes Corbyn. The only sane result of all this should be withdrawal from Article 50, and remaining in the EU as we would have done except for the insane referendum. A less sane, but possibly the only politically acceptable one that will avoid major damage to the UK economy and major divisions in UK society, will be Jeremy Corbyn's solution, that's a leaving of the EU but continuing with a customs union and other European institutions that our economy and society will need. That GG seems happy to so seriously undermine and diminish JC in the way he has is unforgivable in my estimation.

- Quite ironic really, it's not Corbyn who is going to destroy the Tories, but Farage - psingh May 27, 2019, 4:11 pm
