"I'm more worried about the britannia unchained types being allowed to let rip on the few social services and protections we still have and push us further rightwards" Well, I don't see any of that changing any more negatively than its been changing for a long while now. We need to recognise that the eu has not protected any of the important social services and protections we have in the U.K. What the uk elite wanted it has taken. If eu ideals didn't match up they didn't make it here. As Keith and other pointed out, if we wish to see change we have to push it ourselves. The leader doesn't matter, if we sit on our hands after voting, it's the same result every time. The eu isn't there to make us happy but to provide a continent wide economic stronghold to rival the other two superpowers. Believing otherwise doesn't make it so. Till now the uk hasn't been forced to act well, nor will it post brexit, unless we force it to. No one else can.
