Another strawman. No one is saying the existence of the eu is to make countries poorer. In fact I said something quite close to your point that it makes Europe richer and more powerful as a collective of (the richer countries within) Europe. A rival to the other two superpowers. A rich country can be full of poor people I. The same way a rich business can be full of poor workers. You see only the cream on top and think that means we're all thriving, but we are not. You get richer by screwing the poor, not by providing equality. If you do the latter, no one is particularly richer than any other, except perhaps through hours of labour or exceptional skill. Not blaming the eu for poverty of individuals is similar to not blaming the uk for poverty of individuals. No one ever got rich by being fair to everyone else. No one ever got powerful by respecting everyone else. If you believe otherwise you are incorrect.
