So is it safe to safe you're against democracy because it's puts the decisions in the hands of the untamed masses? Thank god and all that we had upstanding politicians to deliver us from such things as capital punishment, slavery et al.
Or.. Maybe the problem was all those things were created and upheld by the same till public opinion and agitation brought them down and representative democracy was not the bastion of sane and compassionate thought we might hope it was.
Here's my preferred political paradigm: anarchy. There would be no hangings because you'd need a unanimous vote. Let me point out once again; I didn't vote. What I did do was point out that of democracy is what we have, and assuming we don't want a dictatorship as the alternative, then that vote must be honoured. If you are prepared to ditch what little democratic freedom we have in favour of a result you favour, then the main thing to be aware of is that it condemns us to the next stage of autocratic rule.
