I should add, I'm not impressed with his comments either which seem to reflect an unwillingness to recognize the legitimacy and importance of the movement at all, something that can be done without making concessions to western hypocrisy. I thought this one particularly silly in this context: "But adults must do everything not to bring teenagers and children into some extreme situations."
Maybe something was lost in translation, but it sounds pretty senseless to me, at least if the "extreme situation" he is referring to is Thunberg's appearance at the UN. The genuinely extreme situation is the planetary crisis the young people are responding to, and in Thunberg's case, responding to extremely impressively.
