While this is all true, parents do sometimes speak through their children, perhaps unwisely and perhaps unintentionally, the children simply being the less inhibited and more idealistic mouthpieces. A case in point perhaps being Assange who, when he visited his father, found the same books on the shelf that he (Assange) had.
The home is often a big influence, where private discussions may remain private while the influence propagates outwards.
