Hi Tman - if i may offer a splurge of my tangential morning burblings - all given in love: It could be said that believing a small specific group of people called 'globalists' are the malign influence controlling us all out of evilness is like a simplistic version of marxism - like the 'socialism of fools'. The sense that power is exerted from above by small groupings who band together and can transcend borders is correct (in the marxist view), but believing that it's just about the character/politics/nationality of the bad people at the top, and you just have to remove some/all of them to make it alright is the naive bit.
As the cliche goes, if you cut off the head of the hydra, three grow back in its place (and use it as an excuse to increase neck security and punish the lower orders). The problem comes from the arrangement of stuff and the power structure that will generate new hydra heads automatically unless the structure is changed. There's no real point railing against hydra heads as if they're separate to the body of the beast.
Marx's view (the little i know of it) seemed more human - the problems aren't about individual people being evil, so much as collective arrangements of stuff generating unfair power relations, which in turn produce evil effects - an individual capitalist is no more or likely to be an 'evil person' than a worker/peasant; they're just likely to affect more people with their decisions, whatever their intentions are (and we all want to believe we're the goodies). The individual capitalists are effectively just as trapped in this self-sustaining system as the lower orders (but in a nice velvet prison cell, which doesn't seem like a prison at all from down here, but there it is).
Anyway, i personally prefer the term globalisers to globalists - globalisers are a specific ideological grouping that promote and carry out globalisation (ie neoliberals), whereas globalists is more vague, allowing certain right wing people who wouldn't usually have much problem with things like neoliberalism to use it for their own varying purposes (not to mention antisemites, who might chuck three brackets round it). Not saying you mean that, or that you shouldn't say it, just my word preference. Peace oot.
