""the Greta spectacle IS a charade! Reasonable people can see this - and say it - without directing the contempt at a child. Greta does not necessarily know she is being used. Full grown adults who think the Greta spectacle is authentic grass-roots heroism are inexcusably and unforgivably naive. A televised UN speech?! A North American tour?! Worldwide coverage?!"
Never been convinced of your grasp of psychology...I've always got the impression that you view both psychotherapy and psychology as "dark arts" which pander to the lowest common denominator, the statement above is a good example (I must say here though that no other Lifeboater has posited any alternative narrative either), for it fails to grasp the nettle..and the nettle is that yes Thunberg is (to an extent), being used...but she is being used because (so-called), adults are scared...scared to raise their voices, scared to examine alternatives, scared of economic uncertainty and the economic effects of a new paradigm and lastly (but most importantly), scared of their own shadows*....
As with the conflicts of the 20c (note how the conflict between Bohr and Einstein was -"coincidentally-, interrupted by a Second World War that ended with the dropping of the Bomb), humanity is in conflict because it cannot determine how to create a viable future for itself, it has examined existence with its finest technologies and all it has found are more questions...but instead of celebrating the opportunity offered by the prospect of more discovery it retreats from the unknown too fearful to continue and is therefore prepared to offer child-sacrifice to the old gods in the hope that they will not allow the future humanity has created for itself to utterly consume it* .." https://members5.boardhost.com/xxxxx/msg/1572091160.html
