This is a good question and one that deserves an answer. I'm not pro jobs at any costs. If they are unethical or pay poorly for long hours or are environmentally destructive where profit is the only imperative then no jobs are better than those jobs. We would need a complete restructuring of society to make it sane, but there seems to be less drive for that and more drive for business as usual in those who for the longest time have seemed to advocate progressive ideas. It boggles my mind. I'd rather be dirt poor than working any such jobs, and I put my lack of money where my mouth is. Pragmatism is fine if that isn't all we can offer.
