This election was always going to be about Brexit, and nothing but Brexit. As I said at the time, agreeing to go to a general election at this time without first sorting the UK's relationship to the EU was a huge political error. Corbyn was noticeably reluctant for a long time, but eventually and tragically gave way. When things go wrong, they keep going wrong don't they? Sometime ago I wrote that the "Right" had won. I think this is just part of our course of history for this time. The power of money and corporatism is now total and will never yield under ordinary democratic rules, because they are no longer rules - just impediments. It will only end unfortunately with social upheaval and violence, which in turn will most likely lead to fascism and martial law. Not just in the UK, but most of the planet. Global warming is just part of this total social breakdown coming to human society in the next decade or two. . England, Oh my England. In reply to another posting claiming how manipulated and propagandised so many people were, including all those Labour supporters who voted Tory just to see Brexit done, this person said, they weren't innocent victims, but complicit. If you accept that people old enough to vote are old enough to vote wisely, then using the term "complicit" seems entirely appropriate. Large numbers of people who should have known better have been complicit in voting in the most reactionary and appalling government at a time of tremendous danger for all of us. I certainly trust that Scotland now seeks independence, and they may have to man the borders in a reverse of history, to stop the hoards of barbarians from England. . |
