Great, so please let me know what your parents' politics are, so I can decide if you're credible.
Most of the time it shouldn't matter and journalist's work should stand on it's own
It has nothing to do with journalism, it's a general ethical/biological point, about as controversial (one would assume) as 2 + 2 = 4: i.e. No one is responsible for their parents' political beliefs/actions/milieu. If you feel differently, the onus is on you to explain why.
