Checking in... Posted by Sonali on 7/23/2020, 11:44 am How's everyone doing?? If like me, no one is posting because dieting in your life right now in nonexistence, just know you are not alone. I am trying everyday that I wake up but then fall off the wagon, it's become routine. Need to change it up and need YOUR support. Please post even if it's this bad. Good day everyone.

We took a trip down to Austin to pickup my car in storage. I brought my water with me and some walmart strawberry and cream zero calorie sparkling water. We got down there, took care of business and neither of us were hungry that night so we hit the sack in a hotel. She's a thin skinny gal of 56 years. Next morning we begin our journey back and I told her I'd treat her to breakfast. I had told her that morning I had been on ketosis for a month but I'd order something just to be polite. She ordered a big breakfast at Crackerbarrel and I ordered coffee and some sort of scrambled egg southwest almost an omelette but not quite. Forget what they call it. Breakfast arrived. Came with hashbrowns. I knew I could never eat the whole thing. In the old days I could eat the whole thing in 5 minutes or less and maybe order another. I started in on it gingerly. Took a very small part off with my fork. I put it in my mouth, chewed it a little bit then let it sit there. I am telling you, that tiny bit of ranch eggs with mushrooms and grated cheese EXPLODED in flavor in my mouth. It was almost a religious experience. The flavors were so intense. We talked for 30 minutes and tiny piece by tiny piece I ate 1/3 of that. I put the other 2/3 in a to go container and savored them over the next 2 days breakfast. If you look on the chart a week ago you will see that. That was the only time in the last 33 days I had any food inside. Overall it did not affect a thing. It was like 800 calories total over a 3 day period.

Since my husband contracted COVID-19 in his nursing home, it's been very challenging for me to stay focused on ME! Being an advocate for a loved one in this crazy healthcare system does deplete your mind and your soul. But, life doesn't care about excuses, life wants RESULTS. You are getting those results. It's a little better now with my husband having been hospitalized due to neglect, starvation and malnourishment and an inability to swallow requiring a tube being inserted into his stomach. His mental status was affected (confusion) with so many other problems. But, he is getting better now through the grace of God. I have been a wreck!! However, after reading your posts, I feel I can try this again. Yesterday, was my husband's 73rd birthday. I never thought he could celebrate his 71st after his massive stroke. June and July have been a helluva two months. Let's see if I can focus now. The Cambridge videos are very motivational.

My baby brother passed away last year and it was a very rough time for my sister and myself before and especially in the months afterwards. It tore me up inside. A grown man crying his eyes out. Impossible right? Messed me up real bad. Even today. God bless your husband and your inner strength. The fire only makes steel stronger. Yes, Laurence was very motivational. He was like your own personal cheerleader. His videos really get to the heart of the matter and show people rather than tell people what is possible. Laurence explains it like this. There are dabblers and then there are doers. The dabblers pick and choose, go on and off, sneak things here, sneak things there. Go in 2 days, quit, binge, then go in one day, quit, binge, etc... Laurence says get your head screwed on right, go in, and follow the plan, no cheating, no dabbling, DO NOT OPEN THE BOX! Do you want to do this thing just one time and take the rest of your life off (other than maintaining) or do you want to go on and off the rest of your life? All the people that knew and loved Laurence were in shock of the news of his mortal mistake. The nasty fight with UK Cambridge outraged all his 1,000s and 1,000s of loyal clients and followers. They too raised hell with UK Cambridge but UK Cambridge stood their ground with his release from their program. Heartless SOBs in my personal opinion. That break affected Laurence so much and so deep that a year later he did the thing most unthinkable in a moment of bad judgement. All of us have challenges we were put on Earth to overcome. We must rise to the challenge and blow right past them. For thousands of years no one could break the 4 minute mile. Critics said it was humanly impossible to accomplish. One man proved them all wrong. On May 6, 1954 Roger Bannister proved all the critics wrong. I will post another update to my journey a few minutes after I post this. The UK Cambridge debacle crushed him. Just totally devastated him. BUT, to this very day, and even a few hours ago, folks are still posting their success stories to his FB page in his honor and posting all the things Laurence did for them to change their lives forever. Cambridge UK should be deeply ashamed of themselves and make amends financially with his family. He was #1 in sales year in year out by a WIDE margin far over and above all the rest. He stood out head and shoulders and Cambridge UK treated him like a used kleenex tossed in the garbage. It was Laurence that called me up on his own nickel from London across the pond and spoke with me sincerely for about an hour. That call changed my life. I had already lost weight when he called me. But his honesty and encouragement that morning blew my mind. He cared enough to call someone he doesn't even know, who is not giving him a penny to buy Cambridge, to speak with them with words of encouragement and tales of his own struggles.

That part never bothered me at all. I think maybe way back in in the very, very beginning when I had never tried ketosis before it did feel a little weird because I was used to stuffing myself everyday. Fried chicken, hamburgers, milkshakes, pizza (all you can eat at Shakeys!) snacks galore, string cheese, gummi bears, sour worms, tacos, burritos(BIG BURRITOS) hostess cupcakes, pepsi, more pizza, microwave popcorn, big submarine sandwiches, pies, pastry. I was like a food vacuum! To go cold turkey from that to ketosis could be quite a leap. I'm used to it now and it's simple to start and those first 3 days never give me any trouble. Just tons of water to fill you up instead of pizza and 3 days later you enter ketosis. Like I said before, speaking only for myself, once in ketosis I have ZERO desire for any food.

He was a great guy and a big time motivator like a marine corp drill instructor that whipped you into shape. One of his famous sayings that he always used was "DON'T OPEN THE BOX!" He called me up one day on his nickel from London and we spoke for about an hour. He was a super guy. His FB page is now a memorial but his girlfriend I believe or his partner took over and her page is still very busy with posts from all over the UK. He helped me a lot to get my mind straight and to encourage me. I owe him a lot. All of Lawrence's videos are still on Youtube. Let me know if you want to watch them and I will send you the link to his YT videos. Here's a little background on me. I have always been about 185 my entire life. My height is 6'3". I could eat anything, anytime and I never gained weight. I'm sure it helped that I had my own biz delivering vending machines all day long. Those things are like from 400-800 pounds. Sometimes more if they are full. Well working all day long outside in hot conditions during the summer I'm sure burned off anything I ate. When I decided I wanted a more comfy, inside biz about when I was 38 I went from being outdoors all day long moving stuff to inside my place sitting in a nice soft, comfy chair. Guess what happened? Yup, the weight slowly started to creep on gradually. To be honest I never noticed it even in the mirror. I was up to 225 in a couple years. Then later, believe it or not I almost touched 300. 297 was my biggest weight. Even then I didn't really feel it to be honest. My pants got bigger but I still felt inside like I was 185. I got serious one day after I could no longer put on my motorcycle boots. That was a shock. I had not been weighing myself. I bought a scale that keeps records on my phone. I weighed myself and was really, really surprised I was 297. Anyhoos, long story short, I started on Cambridge, went down as low as 193 then I wanted to test how well I could maintain it and what would happen if I went back to my old habits but tone them down a bit. Well it took about 4 or 5 months and I was back at 262. This time, at least for me, I think I have it figured out pretty well what is required when I hit my target of 185. I'm in no hurry and I am sort of a scientist when it comes to determining how much food will maintain the weight and how much food will start packing on 5 or 10 or 15 pounds per month. I started this last (and final!!) journey down a bit ago, as you will see on the overall journey screen capture, on April 13, 2020 at 263.8. This is after coming back up from 193 earlier. Look on the overall screenshot. As of today Saturday 7.25.20 I am at 216. In the last 30 days I have lost 27 pounds. It will not take much longer to get back to 185. And at that point I plan to carefully maintain it and never again go above 200 at the very most. On the way down from 263 I did a little experimenting to see just how much food it takes to maintain my weight as you will see in the overall chart. To be honest, when I am in 100% ketosis I have ZERO desire for food. I mean zero. No cravings, no thoughts to sneak something, nada. This is coming from a guy that when he was 300 could order two large 18" pepperoni, sausage and mushroom pizzas then I could devour 1 and a half of them in one sitting watching a good old time movie and a few hours later I would polish off the remaining half! Believe it or not ! Hopefully this will inspire you a bit and anyone else that stumbles across it in the future. I do drink a lot of water now. Usually about 1 1/2 gallons per day. Some days 2 gallons. Will report back in a bit when I hit 185 Mike

Renpho app interfaces with my Renpho blue-tooth scale I purchased on Amazon. I purchased the one that is rechargeable via the same connection I use to recharge my android phone. I'm sure both these apps are available at the Apple store too. Renpho scale will re-calibrate itself if you step on it for a couple seconds then let go. Then I step on it, it measures my weight and sends my weight along with that day's biometric data to my phone. Very simple. Very fast. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qingniu.renpho This is the Renpho bluetooth scale I purchased on Amazon in August 2018. I've never had a single problem with it. The developer updates the google play app all the time with new features. Since it is two years old take a look around Renpho scales that might be better by now. This one does have 4,150 ratings with 4.5 stars. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079DQ7JK6 After that is done I open my 2nd app. It is called "Monitor Your Weight". Again, I use android and the google play store but I'd bet it is on apple store too. The developer is pretty smart, updates it all the time and it can store multiple profiles and can backup all your stored data to the cloud so you never can lose it. This is the app I use to post my weight loss graphs. You do have to enter your weight manually after weighing in with Renpho but it takes seconds to enter your current weight. It's a pretty amazing app with all sorts of stats. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=monitoryourweight.bustan.net Now on to the current testing of maintaining and trying to determine what puts on weight after you hit your goal. I decided to gamble no more on this test than 10 pounds gained in order to see if it would stabilize quickly or if it kept going up and up. I started the test last Sunday evening. For the entire 6 day experiment I did everything I was doing as before to drop from 260 or so down to 209.8. That means I kept up the huge water intake daily (1.5 gallons water or so) and the SS. Identical. The ONLY thing I added to the experiment was one small dinner for those 6 days. I ended the test Saturday morning around 5AM or so. I'm up all hours so I do not have that daily dinner at 6pm burned into my noggin. Sometimes it was 10PM, sometimes 3AM. So, sun, mon, tues, wed, evening I allowed myself exactly 8 oz of sirloin done in my airfryer. Don't hate me, I know I didn't sear it. But I like my steaks, chicken and pork in my airfryer. They are yummy once you know the right minutes/temp to cook them at then flip over to do other side. So, 1st 4 days, 8 oz per day. Total 32 oz. Lets say 500 calories for 8 oz. 2000 calories over first 4 days Final two days. As a test, I upped portions to exactly 16 oz per day. So, 2 days x 1000 calories per day = 2000 calories in 2 days. 4,000 calories over 6 days. Average 666 calories per day added. End result. I started Sun morning 209.8. I ended sat morning 3am. Saturday weight measured in afternoon after waking up. Saturday after noon weight after just 6 days of testing. 219.2. So, in just 6 days, eating a very tiny portion of sirloin, then 2 larger portions last 2 days I gained 9.4 pounds in 6 days. 1.56 pounds per day of weight put on. To me, this was a bit shocking and a real eye opener. To be honest I don't think that small amount of sirloin over 6 days could add 9 pounds of fat to my body. Honestly I think it is mainly water retention. I feel a bit more bloated and my feet have gotten a tad bigger. As of 5AM Sat afternoon I am now back on my normal schedule. Nothing for dinner, just what I have always done to lose weight from that 260 mark. It will be interesting to see how fast this water blows off and how fast I go back to 209.8 and then finally down to 185 or so. I might do 175 then ease back in gently with soups and salads rather than heavy meat. Somehow I think that meat is helping my body retain water. Here's the chart showing you the 9.4 pound gain during the test. Will update again soon. The dates you see on the chart represent the 4th,5th,6th,7th and 8th (219.2). 209.8 was the 2nd of August.

I am a scientist at heart and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your scientific approach to weight loss. I had researched Alan Howard's physiologic approach to weight loss over 35 years ago and found it was the answer to my prayers. It is!! I just never stuck with it. I was distracted with life and raising kids, etc. The scale you recommended is a bit too technical for me, but the app (Monitor your Weight) is AWESOME! Thank you so much. Yesterday, I did some "experimentation" with my new-found motivation (YOU) to weight loss. It was time to harvest my tomatoes and basil. The tomatoes were absolutely seductive, as was the basil (out of which I made pesto). Using my FitBit, I had 1450 calories in that day (yesterday) and lo and behold, I gained 1.9 pounds in one day. Eek!! Anyway, I've calmed myself down and started the journey again this morning. Before you came on the Support Board, I was truly afraid to weigh myself daily and "see the numbers" because they always played with my mind. Now, after having seen you take the "bull by the horns", i.e., the weight loss number and use them to your scientific advantage, I have done the same. Thank you. That steak must have been delicious, though. . Over the years, I have suspected that what we eat changes the physiological mechanisms in our bodies. If we are fat and obese, whatever we eat goes directly into the peripheral fat stores with insulin. However, when we are in ketosis, whatever we consume is metabolized differently. Cambridge does that for anyone who can handle the program. I was intrigued with the video by Laurence. What does "DON'T OPEN THE BOX" mean? In the USA, Cambridge is no more, but I stockpiled many packages of the stuff. Hopefully, I will get to my goal weight of 147 pounds because my stash is depleted. Nowhere do I hear cholesterol mentioned. On my post all it shows me is the week 4 video done by Laurence. How and where did you come across the cholesterol video. OK, perhaps the cholesterol video showed at the very end of Laurence's video as one of youtube's "suggested" videos. Maybe that's what you are speaking of. "DON'T OPEN THE BOX" was one of the phrases always mentioned in a lot of his videos he posted on Youtube for his clients/followers. What it means is when you go to your cupboards/cabinets/pantry and eyeball that box of oreos/pringles/snacks/cupcakes/vanilla wafers/breakfast bars/etc... DO NOT OPEN THEM. Leave them alone. Opening that box only delays your goals and after 3 minutes of pleasure you have the next 24 hours/week/month to live with your consequences. That said, I do miss my human food vacuum days of 16 yo to 39 years old when I could eat anything, anytime day or night and never, ever go above 185/190. I'd do anything to go back to those days. Eat, eat, eat at Shakeys for an hour. Go back 6 or 7 times, keep gobbling down chicken, pizza, spaghetti, mojo potatoes, salad, cinnamon rolls, more pizza then hop in my truck and work another 8 hours in the hot sun delivering vending machines no problem. Was not bloated, was not sick, just a good full belly and back to working in 95-110 degree heat moving 600 pound machines till 9pm or 10pm some nights. Those were the good ol days, eh?

After reading your quizzical reply, I then became aware that these advertisements may appear to be part of another person’s post. I have wised-up now. I can’t imagine you doing all that hard work in the hot sun. In my youth, we had an all girls rhythm and blues band and on the weekends we will perform on the college circuit. We ate like pigs right after the gig and come Wednesday we had to starve in order to get into our costumes. Those were the good all days for me. It has a built in ad blocker and I added a very good ad blocker extension on top of that built in one. I never see ads anywhere. I do know YouTube runs ads like crazy at the beginning and between videos. I figured you might have caught that. I did notice when I visit this site in a browser without adblockers multiple ads do pop up when the page loads. Maybe it was a video ad from that company that offers this board hosting. Who knows. Maybe my body is different. It would not matter to myself if a freshly baked chocolate cake is in front of me or a subway sandwich or a bagel and cream cheese. All my appetite is gone inside ketosis. Even sweets like hard candies I used to like to let dissolve slowly in my mouth have no interest. They are too sweet. If you can imagine. I really thought coming back up to 1,000 - 1500 a day in would stabilize immediately my weight without a rise of 9-10 pounds in 6 days. It's interesting. It was hot, my truck had no air so I guess that was a free all day sauna to boot. But you get used to it I suppose like Texans got used to the heat and humidity in 1840. Maybe the metabolism slows down so much after a certain age it begins to get harder and harder to lose weight. My mother was very thin at 30 but around 38-40 the pounds started packing on for her even though the was an RN running around in L&D all day long. She was into TOPS, weight watchers, etc.. She ballooned up quite a bit but later in life the reversed it some. It must have been hard seeing 4 kids eating like vacuum cleaners with no consequences.

Most of us never get to ketosis and everything goes South!! Have you ever read the Original Cambridge Diet handbook (1984 by Eugene Boe)? Great book about the scientific origins of the Cambridge diet. Jean Nidetsch started Weight Watchers as a diabetic diet and now it's so commercialize, it is worthless. Thank you for recommending the browser. I'll try it. Speaking of browsers, I am so tired of ads. They are ubiquitous and nonstop. That's why Americans are so fat. The fast-food industry has a lock on advertising (day in and day out---billboards, commercials, television, radio). It's no wonder we are dying. They will not admit that the way food has been presented in these marketing campaigns in America is similar (if not worse) that illicit drug dealers. They are the pushers and we are the junkies. That's 40.4 pounds lost in the last 41 days. 6 weeks. 9.6 pounds in the last 10 days. So, in theory, that will be 80 pounds in 12 weeks. 40 more pounds would put me at 170. 60 pounds Posted by Yvonne on 8/3/2020, 11:19 pm, in reply to "WOW!!" I've lost 60 pounds on Cambridge in the past year. However, with my beloved husband's illness, I became distracted. I need to lose 50 more pounds to get to my goal weight of 147 pounds. I hope it is smooth sailing for his continue progress in order for me to look inward and focus on me now.

Yes, life does throw us a curve ball at times but all we can do is swing the best we know how. You sound like a very strong person. Keep up the good work, look at the end goal and remember this is a lifelong journey with the maintaining the goal, not just a 6 month destination, game over done and dusted. I'm shooting for staying under 200 maximum for one year and we will go from there. It is SO easy to gain weight and it comes on very, very fast. It's crazy. I just don't get it why it pours on and comes off so slow. At least speaking only for myself.

This is the video that blew my mind and convinced me to buy some Cambridge. Watch the whole video and see what your poor stomach suffers from just one day of meals like I used to eat. It's hard to believe but Lawrence was 320 at one time. I think in this video he is around 160. I started my final leg down on June 22 2020 at 250.2. If you notice in the overall screencap I played around a bit after I went up to test what it takes to maintain and what it takes to gain. On June 22, 2020 I started my final leg down at 250.2. 33 days later I am now at 216. So, that means 34 pounds lost in 33 days. I'll be at 185 soon enough.

At today's weight check-in my scale shows me at 211.6. So that is 1.4 pounds down in one day and 38.6 pounds lost in the last 38 days. My current goal is 185. In my adult life, even as late as 36 or so, I have been down to as low as 172 to 174. That was size 32 Levis. For a laugh, when I was up around 300, the biggest Levis I had were 44 and those were snug. I may test 175ish or so just for fun. I'll see what happens at 185. My ketosis stick is salmon pink as it should be. ZERO desire for any food. ZERO cravings. Here is today's video pep talk for ya! " Sonali, in that video above, at the very beginning, Lawrence explains he was at 21 stones (294 pounds) maximum weight then crushed it down to 14 stones (196 pounds) and has maintained it for 4 years. He also notes he was very surprised that when he added 2 stones to that 14 stones in order to show his audience how simple it was to lose 4 stones (56 pounds) in 12 weeks, that it only took him 4 1/2 weeks to put on the extra 2 stones(28 pounds)!!! I can vouch for that!! It's so easy and simple to add 25-30 pounds in one month!

My weight is currently 214.4. So that is 1.6 pounds in last 3 days. I'll take it. Do you see how it varies some days? It's weird. I did the same exact thing last three days. I was expecting a bit more but I will take it. The body knows what it is doing.

So like .6 in one day. For me this tends to vary a bit. The dailies I have seen as much as 3 pounds lost, I have seen no loss and for weird reasons only my body knows I have seen it increase. Most likely due to the 12 pounds of water I drink a day all not being flushed from my system before the daily weight check-in. Sometimes on the way down the weight will stabilize for a few days. As if my body is redistributing the fat to other better places for it to be absorbed. Then after a day or two or three it blasts off again heading down.
