It is frustrating not knowing where you are in relationship to a larger location. I know that feeling very well. I have just started taking a note pad with me and when my husband is driving I will write N,S, E,W, on the paper just like on a map and as we turn in the car, I will turn the paper and then tell my husband where we are. It seems to be helping. I would encourage you to learn to read a map. Not only for the sense of accomplishment but for the release from the anxiety of thinking you won't be able to find your way back. That was a tremendous burden lifted from me. I rate map reading right up there with tasks like plunging the toilet. Most unpleasant but very necessary! I will get the book you mentioned. Thanks.
