However recent developments in software technology have forced a critical watershed on all aftermarket technicians, if we are to survive we need to radically re-think the way we market and invest in our business's. Many will fail this challenge, therefore those technicians with the forsight to invest and operate at dealer level will have a unique oppertunity and respect with the general community. This is an aim and a goal that I have been promoting for many years ,and now it's finally happened.
We must all speak with a common voice, raising our concerns and place pressure on tool manufactures to provide the tools and software we need and not the ones that they want to sell!
They like us are going to have to stop trying to cover the entire global market and specialise in specific manufactures. Many of the software functions we require are often simple in concept yet only provided with total vehicle access at OE level. If we fail to provide this service we will looose our customers forever to the dealerships, I for one am not prepared for this to happen!and I welcome all other technicians with a simalar view to respond.
