WRT your Vectra, Personally I would fit the original siemens part if you can still get hold of them, As I had many problems with cars that had the OE mod carried out on them. The reason for this was purely a change of manufacture of the part and it had a different plug on it. Fit a new genuine crank sensor too and be absolutely certain the timing and tension of the belt are correct.
