It's also... odd, that people on what looks like the anti-European, English nationalist, left and right; agree, against all the available evidence, that Brexit is going to be 'easy' and unharmful to the UK economy. In reality it's the opposite, a time-consuming, expensive, highly detailed, complex and massive undertaking. This is obvious. After almost half a century of integration, leaving was never going to be 'easy.' One also has to remember that this part, is regarded as the smaller and less complex part. The real 'trouble' begins when one attempts to negotiate about the future. The future UK relationship to the EU. Merely pretending that something doesn't exist, doesn't make it so, at least not in the real world, the world shorn of 'relgious dogma.' One example. A friend of mine is a engineer specialising in world-wide energy projects. His firm is partnered with a large UK engineering corporation and has been for over twenty years. For them Brexit is a total nightmare. They have, literally hundreds of long and detailed contracts with customers. What happens to these contracts now? Who, which part of the firm is responisble for them? Whose interpretation of these detailed and complex contracts apply? The firm is now, effectively, splitting into two entities. One inside the EU and one outside. A divorce between two peole who, basically, have nothing, is relatively easy I suppose. There's not much to argue about economically. But divorce involving two extremely wealthy people, with intertwined and multi-facetted economic interests and lots of assets is a completely different thing. That people can seriously deny this is strange, unless one chooses to allow one's heart to totally over-rule one's head.
