I don't think that you, as an idividual, have expressed ignorance of economics or racist views. How do you get around to thinking that you represent or accurately describe widespread opinion on the very fragmented and sectarian left? Corbyn, whatever one thinks of him, is hardly representative of the left or even the PLP, which loathes him. The European Union is a big thing and still a work in progress. At the moment it's dominated by conservatives and neo-liberalism to an unhealthy degree. I don't think it's possible to argue that there's a solid case for the idea that conditions in the UK would have been significantly better for ordinary people outside the EU rather than inside over the last fifty years. It wasn't the Europeans that voted for Margaret Thatcher. On the contrary, her brand of rabid neo-liberalism was rejected by most European countries. Thatcherism did though, as pure ideology, influence events and thought inside Europe, way too much and gave the ultra-liberals wind in their sails. Thye could point to Britain as a model. Corbyn, if he was elected and if he was successful, could provide an alternative that might revitalise the entire left in Europe, Thatcherism in reverse.
