I disagree, I think Political economy and a firm grasp of what it entails today is essential to understand Brexit and the economic consequences of Brexit at both a short term and long-term level. Where we should be in agreement is on these facts: Neither the Remain or Leave camps in the EU Ref equipped themselves to any satisfactory level - at least Corbyn, who avoided both formal camps, actually was honest in his statements, which essentially was the advice he'd been given by Varoufakis, namely Remain & Reform - the EU is incapable of Reform in my opinion and events after the Brexit result have backed this fact up, i.e., given an existential crisis to its existence the EU has double down, rather than embraced any meaningful reform. Further, and it goes without saying, the Tories own Brexit and own the Brexit negotiations, they have made a pigs ear of it - not helped by Brussels I'm afraid, who's machinations are well documented by Varoufakis. As it stands, personally I'm favourable to EEA membership, which is not too far short of what Corbyn has been suggesting, however, much as I cannot endure May in Westminster, I cannot endure Juncker in Brussels, so, if we get another binary EU vote my vote remains the same - which neither implies I'm ignorant on the economics or a closet racist.
