At Dovetailjoint, What you have commented on smacks of an example of Globalisation as it exist today with extended supply chains that can break at any instance, see for example Floods in Thailand and the impact these had on the manufacture and supply of hard disc drives - of course, much of this is governed by WTO rules, whilst in the EU we have a added level of rules and regulations pertinent to the operation of a Single Market, which itself is tied in to the globalised economy - that many of said rules and regulations have been constructed at a Brussels level and then incorporated into UK law is neither here or there, nor has the Left ignored said facts, which, we were warned about in the 1975 EEC Ref by the likes of Peter Shore and Barbara Castle. However facts stand today, and by embracing risk management, one answer to many issues is 'localisation', which reduces risks associated with supply chains - of course, what benefits a Capitalist rentier class does not necessary benefit workers, particularly if your job has been exported to the Far east or the former Eastern European Communist states. Again, you may protest about Brexit as much as you like, but to suggest persons on the Left ignore realities on the ground is taking the biscuit. Maybe have a listen or read material by Prof. Steve Keen, who unlike many a noted economist, managed to warn against the GFC of 2007/8, regrettably not many listened - he supports Brexit and is hardly uninformed, unless he's a propagandist for Rees Mogg, which i can assure is not the case.
