Don't you remember Malala Yousafzai? Sixteen year old from Pakistan shot by the Taliban for persisting in going to school? She fits the bill and there was the same kind of criticism of her being an elite propaganda tool when she met Obomber. Sure enough that's how the press used it, but in fact Malala really stuck it to him on the counterproductive effects of his murder-by-drone policy: it just got hushed up & not mentioned in the corporate media. It illustrated how hard it is to make that call: balancing the publicity opportunity & possible gains to be made for an important cause through meeting the tainted individuals that pull the levers of power, against the fact that they may seek to use that publicity for their own aims.
