After reading all the above posts especially the naff testers and training bits I find it scarry to think that the majority of apprenticed technicians must now be around the 45 to 55 age group! I was 'lucky' to have been able to attend block release and frequent courses in the early seventies although I probably didn't realise it at the time. Our industry suffered from the quick buck types even then and with the modern technology you would have thought they would have been dropped by the wayside but it seems not by the above opinions. Unfortunately the people who need to be tested and trained I think will be the ones who full/slip through any net that is introduced and the rest of us will end up paying for it. I'm just glad that I won't be in this industry for too many years to come.
