I think that a lot of dealers and independents have to take some of the blame for the public thinking that it is easy to fix their vehicles, the reason, what is the first thing a lot of garages say to the customers when the have first contact, I will plug my scanner,serial tool, computer in and see what is wrong. I think it is time "technicians" and service managers started saying we will investigate the problem your vehicle has, locate the fault, and then give you a call to advise in the work necessary to solve the problem. If you just want me to serially read your fault codes I can carry this out, but I will not guarantee that this will fix your vehicle and then explain why.
