Hi alan. I assumed that's how you had read the post. A Lot of these aftermarket Cats Struggle to Pass the MOT when they are new. So it's a good chance that they will fail the MOT on the next Test when its a Year old, Unless the tester is prepared to spend a lot of time Trying to get the readings down by Getting the cat up to temperature, Usually by Driving the car hard.
And in our Area theres not many that will do that, It's Usually a case of Park it in the car park till it goes cold, Get it barely up to Temperature, In - Test - Fail. Another 3 minutes on fast idle, Retest, fail. And a lot of "Old" cars with Cheap or tired cats will not pass in those conditions. We also get a lot in that have failed and they haven't even checked the temperature, It just say's Temp Gauge showed Warm. ?? Is that a correct Method of Testing. ??
