I dont use any temp measuring device other than the instrument display or fan cut in. My gas analyser allows me to wait (with no RPM pickup selected) to see the O2, HC & Lambda to come into range before commencing the BET test. Personally I find that an extended period of fast (or extremely fast) idle is better than a "Schumacher hot lap" down the road. No cold air flow or rain water/puddles to cool the cat etc. I see loads of motors that have failed an emissions test at local MOT stations that will pass after a little common sense pre conditioning. Cheers Dave (Hill)
