That's factually incorrect.
First of all, to say "as though they have no brains of their own" suggests you believe news media has no impact on people? Of course no news reader "has no brains of their own", but yes 100% people are guided and corralled into certain positions.
Taking that on board, the hoity toity papers - yes accurate name - were undeclared almost to the final day and to a large extent showed arguments both for and against, in a kind of polite way that didn't go for the jugula.
The Sun-Mail-Express, already commanding a much higher proportion of readers than the hoity-toities, were vehemntly Leave from the start of the campaign.
