please read the email which i have sent to vosa .
Reason I am writing this email to you is this,past Wednesday ,some one came to see me ,asking for a job as a mot tester , I told this person before I take him on as an employee if he was willing to do a few mots with me , he agreed to do that .
then I asked him if he was a mechanic his reply was he can do a few simple jobs brake pads etc. I asked him how long he's been testing, his reply was 12 months.
when we started the test he did not know the reason for horizontal or vertical lines on head light alignment equipment .
n/s/f head light were miles to far to the left according to him it was fine .
under bonnet checks he never asked for any one to rock steering or press brake .
he didn't have a clue where to jack up the vehicles, he jacked up every one in wrong place.
o/s/ front brake hose was badly twisted I kept saying to him something is wrong with braking system on o/s/f which was very serious but he didn't have a clue .
he said he never heard of 850 above or below for head light alignment.
and I could go on and on forever.
my question is this how did this man get his testers licence and the smart card, and who authorised him to test public vehicles.
back in 1997 one of my employee who was a college lecturer, he had to go and sit the exam in Leeds,even though he was far more qualified, then it was a requirement by your self's.
well the point is this that I feel absolutely disgusted that now a days you are allowing any tom, dick and harry to test public vehicles and carry smart cards,who have no qualification or a mechanical back ground knowledge,again I feel so disgusted that I strongly feel that as professional and qualified person to get in touch with national press.
