I think with all insurance you have to work on the principal that you will not be covered unless you have written proof that you are covered explicitly for a particular item and circumstance and even then you may not be covered for as much as you think. The trouble is you could go for years without making a claim and not know the true value of your cover - and then - wham it hits you. It is a benefit if you know the possible excuses and then you can avoid jumping into the trap, I am not covered for charging batteries overnight, you can see the reasoning for that with car batteries on vehicles but would this excuse be brought into play if the garage burnt down for other reasons but I happened to be charging the batteries for the digital camera that night?
