As you are a LTD company,I think it unlikely the your motor trade policy will cover you to drive your kids cars. The vehicle would need to be in the care / control of the company, (as it is the company who is the policy holder not you)to be covered, this would not apply for private use I feel.
As an employee of the company, weather directer or salesmen, you probably would be covered OK to drive sales or customers cars for private, as these are the property of the company or have been left in there care / control.
Privately owned cars of directors would not normally be covered by a motor trade policy ( my renewal declaration points this out in Bold type), they must be property of the company, i.e shown the business accounts as being purchased by company and shown as an assets. (or on HP etc)
This is how I understand, from my policy.I have questioned our broker in depth about it in the past as I am aware it is a problem area. I have received written confirmation from the insurer various points. Different wording may apply to your policy, but would advise you check it out.
