He asked us to remove the gearbox and see what the problem was. New plate fitted only, pressure plate worn to hell and bearing just as bad. We fitted a new clutch kit and all was well.
He went back to the garage with old clutch in hand and eventually got a refund after threats of trading standards.
No wonder this trade has a bad reputation. I do honestly think the trade needs some form of Licence/policing. I would gladly sign up to somthing that was in the interests of the customer and the garage if it was going to do some good. Money making schemes like Motor Codes is not the way forward.
