Good article, pointing out lots of problems with the incredible focus on COVID-19. Just because Boris was initially not too bothered about this epidemic is no proof he and his government don't see the opportunities in it. Remember he also initially said good things about the Russians until he became foreign secretary and realised which way the wind was blowing. As the guy points out, all the recent governments haven't cared at all about the health of the general public -- so why do they suddenly care, or pretend to care, so much? Indeed, it's again clear they don't care: where are the estimates of the damage done by these lockdowns? Damage to people's mental health, children stuck in houses behind computers, people deciding to stay at home who would otherwise go to the doctor, extra domestic abuse, depression from not seeing your friends or others who support you, the effects of living in fear, the large number of new unemployed -- the list is very long, if you're interested. All this has no value. Only COVID-19 matters. And what's to stop a second wave? Especially if the virus continues in other places around the world. Expect many more "temporary" lockdowns, consequences be damned.
