This bit was discussed here when the data came out, as the previous weeks data (ending March 27) had been highlighted by Flash when it showed a small spike; the Apr 3 data showed a big spike corresponding to the 6000 excess deaths. "The ONS stated that of the 6,082 excess deaths 3,475 “mentioned” coronavirus. Of those 1,466 also mentioned influenza and pneumonia. Consequently, while registered deaths are 6,082 above the 5 year average, only 2009 of those solely mentioned C19 with 4,073 mentioning other underlying causes. It is worth remembering only C19 deaths can be “mentioned” without a clear positive test result. Therefore, at least 67% of that excess mortality is being caused by other unknown factors that no one seems to care about." 2009 of the 6082 deaths solely mentioned coronavirus, and 4073 mentioned coronavirus as well as influenza and pneumonia. So, how does he get to this: " Therefore, at least 67% of that excess mortality is being caused by other unknown factors that no one seems to care about. " Only 2607 deaths didn't mention coronavirus, about 45% of the excess mortality (6082), I think - not 67%. I don't know if 2600 - odd deaths above the normal is significant in itself. The 3500 deaths mentioning the coronavirus is significant because the spike at precisely that point in time was predicted from the corona figures, which had only recently started to approach the level at which the difference wold be visible in the excess deaths.
