You might as well deny there is a pandemic if you want to do nothing about it. How many times have I now heard this on this board -- that being critical of a lockdown = wanting to do nothing. Why do you think WHO suggests (in their own study from October 2019) "workplace closures only to be considered as a last step for extraordinarily severe pandemics". (see https://members5.boardhost.com/xxxxx/msg/1587936605.html ) Is it because they also want to do nothing? Or maybe, just maybe, like the UN, are also considering the effects of the various measures undertaken. I'm not playing anything down -- perhaps you can find a quote of mine. I do, however, see virtually no attempt at estimating the `collateral' damage. One could call that downplaying. Nor am I "relying on a second wave", whatever that's supposed to mean. If there's none that'd be great. But it's clear to me that if you suppress the infections there may well be a second wave after you ease the lockdown. So, in order to compare accurately these countries one should wait till you're back to normality.
