I've been arguing that they (the top of the tory party) never changed their minds - they always wanted herd immunity ('like superman'), then that was a political disaster so they had to belatedly do a lockdown as if it was what they wanted rather than being bumped into it by people not letting their kids go to school or the FA closing down - seeing how popular thelockdown was/is they've been trying to take credit for it ever since, even though they had to be dragged into it. Ever since then they've been flying kites in their tame media (including/especially the bbc) to see how quickly they can stop it, while at the same time being careful in their mesaging to maintain the appearance that the lockdown was their idea - it really has been all one way from what i can see.
I'm just speculating like eveyone else, but i haven;t seen any evidence against the above view of tory attitudes, and plenty for it. I'm not pro-lockdown, i'm pro not needing one, south korea style, but we are where we are.
