Hi all. "CO" is a indicator of richness "o2" is a indicator of leanness "HC" is a indicator of poor combustion "CO2" is a indicator of good combustion there is a relationship between all the gases if you had high "CO" you should also have low "O2" readings because all the "O2" would have been used up trying to convert the mixture to "CO2" The same would be true of a vehicle with a high "HC" reading,in that it would have a low "CO2" reading A injector that was not atomizing the fuel would cause a high "HC" reading as liquid petrol does not burn. A "no spark" issue would also cause a high "HC" reading When looking at gas figures it is always worth looking at the pre-cat levels if poss(even if it means making a tapping)because lets face it the cat will only work if the correct mixture is put into it. Ignition timing as with all other variables will have a impact on the end figures which is why back in the good old days of points and timing that you could adjust, the final part of "Tuning" was setting the CO level I hope that I have not sent any of you to sleep or tried to teach you to suck eggs as that was not my aim.HTH Regards Mark.
