How can Corbyn and his allies defend themselves against these anti-semitism attacks? Archived Message

I don't think Corbyn is a coward either, John but I can remember nothing like this constant onslaught against a party leader in the past and I suspect Corbyn and his allies simply don't know how to effectively address these accusations. And, actually, unlike many of the people who post here, I don't think it's easy to do. Part of the problem is that Corbyn is affected by a constant in British politics, the Laws of Unintended Consequences. For no doubt the best of motives, society has largely handed to certain groups the sole right to define when and how they face bigotry or discrimination. On the face of it, who could object? Who can better identify racism when they experience it than a person from a black or ethnic minority background? Who can better identify anti-semitism than a Jew? Unfortunately, one of the consequences of moving away from requiring substantive evidence of bigotry instead of relying on 'feelings' is that enormous power is gifted to those of ill-will who are highly skilled at exploiting alleged victim status. It's like Tom Watson said the other day - whether Labour is an anti-semitic party will be decided not by the party's member but by Britain's Jewish community. Those who want rid of Corbyn can keep up the accusations of anti-semitism for as long as it takes because all it takes nowadays is for someone from a particular group to claim their feelings have been hurt or they've been outraged because they're not being taken as seriously as they think they should be or they've been 'abused' by some nut on Twitter and it's assumed said nut is on Team Corbyn. Culturally, we seem to have reached a point where facts don't matter - if any Jew finds a hint of anti-semitism in the Labour Party well, then it's an anti-semitic organisation and that's a fact. To ask a question that comes from one of my all-time favourite movies "The Year of Living Dangerously" - 'what then must we do?' What can Corbyn do?
