I've not turned on him (and afaict, the people slagging him in this thread have always said that stuff) - i won't give watson and co what they want, which is a brechtian abolition of the labour members electorate - i'll stay a member and vote against the bastards. I am disgusted and disappointed with the treatment of williamson (as far as i know it was formby who capitulated, though we don;t know the threats from the plp that she faced (i heard watson threatened 50 mps would resign)). It's easy to be an armchair lenin, but i wouldn't want to be the one in corbyn's current position who steers a path between appeasing the 'moderates' and their many friends in the media and ####ing them off totally and appealing directly to the public. This is not a simple choice: going the full galloway, while i'd like it, would probably mean the death of labour's chances in this current electoral window (which only opened accidentally, and won't be allowed to open again). Call this reformism if you like (i call it a no-brainer: choice between possibility of some relief fron auterity and war vs some theoretical chance of revolutionary change later on), but once that window has fully closed, then another strategy may be more feasible. I've always thought there wasn't much chance a socialist-ish corbyn government would be allowed, but in the trying and being stopped, maybe the public would receive some more education in how our democracy works, and consequently, a more overt approach would find more support later on. If we allow the divide and rule strategy to work this won't happen - that doesn't mean we accept what's happening, just that we don't let them win by members ditching corbyn.
