Perhaps more important than gullibility is cynicism .. Archived Message

.. People (people I have talked to about it) know exactly what they are doing and know exactly how the system works. Because they basically are the system. So they will say something like (after they raise the subject by the way, as a kind of a test) "Dont you care that he raped someone?" In order to immediately make it about me. To which my response is "I am sure you don't care very much whether he raped someone or not (by the way, I believe he did not), you only care that he's been accused of it, because that is what happens to people who expose criminality at the very top, on the scale he did. And he exposed a quite shocking amount of criminality at the very top.". I am not met by disagreement, only repetition - with stronger adjectives. The next step is exclusion, which is fine, being on the outside is always a better challenge. If I am not, I am usually doing something wrong. To say that people think we live in a just world is certainly interesting, and may be true for some, but its a bit of a non-starter for me. I have tried the word "gullible" but it doesn't really apply. Cynical is probably more accurate. - Best regards, Shyaku
