Derek, everyone, sometimes, in the absence of being able to do anything directly, you just have to trust a good person to do the right thing. Corbyn is a leader who goes to Parliament and the first thing he has to do is don the political straitjacket provided by the rump of the Parliamentary Labour party. He also has to rise above the vilest calumny from the media and his political opponents, not only outside the party he leads, but from the very people who owe their seat to his popularity with large sections of the British public. Despite all this he remains quietly and honourably effective, so much so that even commentators in the media are having to admit to some statesmanlike qualities in the man. Now, I know they're comparing him with May and Johnson, but even so, it's a little spark of enlightenment that is entering their brains and that could burn brighter. For me, I trust him, both as someone with deep and unshakeable convictions which hasn't changed over a political lifetime, and as a leader who is modest and sincere and who'll not break faith with the citizens who voted him in to office. His main attribute is a moral authority, which is becoming ever more evident. A moral authority is a powerful force which is almost impossible to counter. Ghandi, Mandela had it. Greta Thunberg has it. So has Corbyn and it's becoming more evident as the political world around him crumbles and he remains unaffected. Do not wish for anyone different.
