Keith is good at throwing around gratuitous insults. In this instance, I have responded in kind. I promise not to make a habit of it. So, I crave your indulgence. The potential parallels are relevant. Your response is not. Engaging in discussion makes more sense and is more Mature than shutting down ideas you're uncomfortable with. Keith was not initiating a discussion or drawing historical parallels in a reasoned way. He was throwing out an insult making discussion impossible. He knows full well that, in the lexicon of the left, 'Ramsey McDonald' is synonymous with 'traitor'. He was accusing Corbyn of betraying the 'working class', a ludicrous claim. Corbyn is trying to get into government in order to serve the interests of ordinary people. He has to trim and compromise along the way in order to achieve that. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. We will see what happens if Corbyn becomes PM. He might not be able to achieve what he wants to achieve. I don't believe he would betray the interests of ordinary people. I can't say the same for much of the PLP, unfortunately. There is nothing wrong with drawing historical parallels and trying to learn from them. I don't think comparing Corbyn and McDonald is a useful one. Keith could have tried to make the comparison is a reasoned way. But he resorted to his usual sniping from the sidelines. I long for the day when Keith - and psing - come up with a reasoned alternative way of achieving the goal of substantively improving the lives of ordinary people. Voting Leave, demanding Brexit on any terms, then simply sitting on your hands, does not cut it. I won't hold my breath.
