Sounds confused. Here is the latest from the national ICU audit. https://www.icnarc.org/DataServices/Attachments/Download/d55b170d-b784-ea11-9125-00505601089b 5500 patients admitted - for those that there are outcome data the mortality is 50% - about 2.5% worse than for an equivalent population of patients with viral pneumonia which are shown for comparison. The data show that fewer patients with severe chronic illnesss are being admitted to ICU. Depsite that mortality at every age group is double that for usual viral pneumonias - except in young people 16-39 where the mortality is 3 times higher than would be expected for viral pneumonia. For the 5500 people who have been admitted to ICU the overall death rate is, in little over 1 month, 1500 people more than would be expected if they had been admitted with viral pneumonia including influenza. Very few of these people would be expected to die under usual circumstances. Of course there will be harm from lockdown under the "care" of a government of lying fascists - my wife says there has been an increase in patients presenting with psychosis - the no worse than normal line is a distraction from the effort that needs to be made to fight that government. |
