and have probably bitten my tongue on this area in the past for the sake of general solidarity! But have to be honest. I pulled Jim Lovelocks book out recently while thinking about the Greta generation and how we went through all this fifty years ago - silent spring, CND, Oil wars, fears of concorde emissions, population bomb, Limits to Growth, etc. But I'm afraid I've lost hope in the Gaia theory/belief in the last couple of years, as it appears that positive feedback loops operate more than restorative negative ones. I see accelerating collapse of ice sheets and sudden unpredicted changes. The only way that some sort of stablity might be restored is for such a catastrophe to wipe out humans, who themselves now challenge Gaia at a fundamental level that probably never occurred before. We enter unexplored territory, and there is no turning back; it's far too late!
