I wonder if it, the 'Left', shouldn't just... pack it in? Then, come back, perhaps, when they've got some new ideas, a few worth listening to and considering for a change. I mean, who needs them anymore? What are they for, really?
To me, the mainstream Left seem close to irrelevant and clapped out. At a time when they should have been pushing the economic wagon and getting it really rolling, they have become identified with all sorts of periferal shit about 'identity' and 'gender' and politically correct language instead. Talk about taking a strong brand and pissing it down the drain! Leaving all the stuff most people understand and can relate to, like jobs, housing, inequality and war and peace, and handing it to the nationalist right on a silver platter... amazing and unforgivable.
I was thinking about the left/liberal reaction to Trump wanting to pull the US Army out of Syria, how unsupportive and critical the left is of this very positive move. In the media instead of examining why this is so difficult for Trump, they give space to his critics!
The Deep State wants to stay in Syria and expand the war, and the left supports the Deep State, not even bothering to look at the 'democratic' angle, what this says about US/Western democracy. Trump wins the election, the American people vote for him partly because he's perceived as the 'anti-war' candidate, he's got enormous support in the country, yet the liberal/mainstream left doesn't give a #### about any of that, or the consequences of allowing the president to be castrated or toppled from power by a tiny unrepresenative cabal at the heart of the state. #### war and peace, let's talk about Metoo and transgender rights!
It's like the left has become a kind of kitsch parody of itself, useless and redundent. I meet a lot of people on my travels, socalled 'ordinary people' as well, and they overwhelmingly reject virtually everything the left is seen to believe and represent, as I've outlined. The left seems to have painted itself into a useless ideological corner that most people reject, especially all this crap about language and traditions that might offend some tiny sliver of the population and hurt their little feelings.
So, mayby they should just go on holiday for a couple of decades and take Chomsky with them
